About this program

This industry recognised/non-accredited course is designed for Disability Support Workers, or aged care, care workers who are needing to refresh their knowledge on the rules and regulations relating to assisting clients with medication.

This non-accredited course applies to individuals working in the health and community services such as Aged Care Workers, Community Care Workers, Disability Support Workers, Personal Care Workers and Respite Care Workers who wish to develop the knowledge and skills in supporting people to self-administer medication and complete medication documentation, according to the relevant Federal and state/territory legislation, regulations, codes or practice and workplace policies and procedures. The course content has been guided by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the WA HACC Program’s Medication Policy Framework and Guidelines.

Students will also develop an understanding of the various forms of medication, the different modes medication can be administered as well as the characteristics of several commonly used medications, including both prescribed and over the counter medication.

Our clinical nurse educators are available via email for support and direction to students completing this program.

Entry Requirements

This is a general refresher. It is not suitable to students who have not studied medication administration before.

Course Duration

Self-paced. Please allow up to 180 minutes to complete this program.

Assessment Activities

Theory assessment –   A written assessment consisting of short-answer and multiple-choice questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) recommends Medication Management training is refreshed annually to stay current with policies, procedures and techniques.

Our programs are useful for audit, registration, and re-registration purposes. Certificate of completion provided by the Director of Clinical Education – Registered Nurse.

Online theory refresher. Our Clinical Nurse Educators are also able to travel to Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, Redlands, Cairns, Townsville, and anywhere in Queensland.
